Special Children make public aware of PWD rights: World Disability Day


Jaipur:On the eve of World Disability Day marked on December 3, students of Umang and Seth AnandiLal Poddar School of Hearing Impaired, with the help of the Choreographers and Theatre Groups performed Dance and Street Play (Nukkad Natak). Focusing on issues faced by Special children and basic rights of people with disabilities, they made public aware of PWD Act 1995 and RTE Act 2009 and the provision of admission under RTE and deploying of sign languageinterpreters a mandatory for everyschool .

Students also drew attention towards the inaccessibility faced by PWDs at public places through street play ‘Uthao ek Kadam’ and Ek Prayas’. The students of St. Soldiers and SMS School also danced together with their peers with disabilities. Citizens from diverse groups were present during the show. On December 3rd different Social Groups trying to mark this occasion by creating awareness through different creative mediums at different places of Jaipur.
