blindsingingSoaked in a melodious eve, Jaipurites enjoyed the semifinal of All India Blind Music Competition –2016 on Thursday. Organised by Maharaja Sawai Mansingh Sangeet Mahavidyalaya the 3 day competition is going on in its full swing from 6thJanuary at Bhatia Bhawan, Raja Park, Jaipur. The competition is being organised from last 5 years and has seen great performances. Synchrony of voice, tabla and harmonium created by the blind competitors made an enchanting effect on audience. More than 300 participants from 15 states of the country are participating in the competition in 3 categories based on the age. The finale will be on 8th jan in which prizes would be given to the winners by celebrity Bollywood singer Ravindra Upaadhyay.

singersAccording to Durga Rao, a participant from Udaipur,” I am coming here from last 2 years and I have found this stage an ideal platform for the budding singers. I like to sing Bhajan and Bollywood songs. I want to become a playback singer and my next target is Indian Idol.”

Semifinalist Mukesh Gaurle from Maharashtra says,” Very few competitions are organised for us, I enjoy singing here in Jaipur. I love music and my family supports me a lot too. I have sung 2 sufi songs in the competition and now looking forward to final.”

It’s true that they can’t see this materialistic world but they have made music their whole world and are enjoying it. One after one phenomenal performances of Gazal and non filmi music by singers won heart of audience. Listening to the charming voice of these talented people, it can only be said that when they sing even the heavens relish.
