Mumbai: Ishrat Jahan who was killed in an alleged fake encounter in 2004 in Gujarat–was actually a suicide bomber of Lashkar-e-Taiba terror outfit, claims a Pakistani- American terrorist David Coleman Headley in a video that was streamed on Thursday.
Headley revealed this via a video-link when Special Publilc Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam quizzed him. Headley told the court that LeT commander Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi once told him that ‘botched -up operation’ that was carried in India included one female terrorist also and she was killed in an encounter. He also said that she was a suicide bomber.
Prosecutor gave hm three options to which he picked the name of Ishrat Jahan. It is to be noted that Four people, Ishrat Jahan, Javed Shaikh alias Pranesh Pillai, Amjadali Akbarali Rana and Zeeshan Johar were killed in an encounter with Gujarat Police on the outskirts of Ahmedabad on June 15, 2004.
Earlier in the day Headley also told the court that that LeT operative Muzammil Butt was the head of his (Headley’s) group before Sajid Mir. He indicated Muzammil had once visited Kashmir to fight against the Indian troops.
