Neenv Campaign of Patrika- MAG initiated last year raised 6 key issues and engaged communities to improve govt schools. School building emerged as a big issue in our ground reports and since last year important actions have been taken by the education dept to improve the state of these schools which is a big impact made by Neenv campaign. Several schools were allotted new buildings, toilets were constructed and teachers were appointed. But it is not enough as there are still a large number of schools which lack facilities and good education system.
leaking roof, shabby shacks
With the arrival of Monsoon, the problems of these schools multiply . A recent ground report of Patrika team reveled that many govt schools of Jaisalmer are still running under decrepit, shabby roofs and in hay shacks. These temporary school buildings are a big threat to the young innocent lives. Some schools have buildings but they are in bad shape. The courtyard and entrance of Girls Higher Secondary School, Jaisalmer converts into a big puddle of water during the rains. It block the way of entrance and students have to wait till the water dries.
Waiting for teachers
Govt Primary School near Dhorimanna village of Barmer district is shut since last 15 days due to lack of teachers. The teacher posted here was transferred to another school, since then no teacher has been appointed. BEO of Dhorimanna and Dhanau block have a dispute over the issue. Rather finding a solution, they are shifting the responsibility on each other. The school belongs to which block, is now a big question as the Education Dept has no info regarding the same.
