A village in Barmer celebrates arrival of Girl Child in Traditional style: LAADO


Barmer: In an attempt to fade the scars of Feoticide from the soil of Barmer, now district administration in joint collaboration with Medical and health Department, women and Child Department and various social organizations jointly organised a program for the new born baby girls.

In this function ‘Betiyon ki Duund’ (a traditional practice held in villages to celebrate the arrival of new born baby) families of newly born girl child along with the babies were facilitated with the gifts and garlands. On this occasion Falguni songs were sang by the women of nearby Aaganwari Kendras. Near about 25 newly born girls turned up along with their relatives.

Earlier a day before near about 300 girls were gathered from nearby villages and an awareness program focusing on the rights of Girl Child was held. Rajasthan Patrika is trying to promote girls by making her aware about the right  For her empowered future a LAADO Campaign has been designed which highlights both positive and negative stories keeping Girl Child as a protagonist.
