69 Years of Independence and yet 35% govt schools of country are still in darkness. Out of 36 states and union territories, only 11 states have electricity supply in their schools. 18000 secondary schools are operated by Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) which is sponsored by the central govt, only 12,159 schools have electricity and rest of the schools are in gloom.
Govt schools of Madhya Pradesh are in the worst condition. These schools are governed by RMSA and most of them lack electricity supply. Due to no power, students often face troubles. Chandigarh, Punjab, Gujrat, Tamilnadu and Goa are the only states where all the schools operated by RMSA have electricity supply. On the contrary, approximately 50% schools of Bihar, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh under the same scheme ( operated by RMSA) have no electricity. It is odd and surprisingas the state govts are not serious about the issue.
