2000 girls are killed across India everyday

Jaipur: Declining  sex ratio is one of the issues which constantly bother us. Indian govt is also taking it seriously and is running awareness campaigns focusing on girl child and gender issues on state and national level.

In Indian culture, we consider a daughter as a deity, we talk about gender equality and changing mind set of society for the better but the ground reality is far different.

According to the statistics, 2000 cases of female foeticide happen per day in India. As per the Asian Center for Human Rights, India ranks fourth in female foeticide in the world. In 1991, the number of girls were 945 on every 1000 boys. But in 2011 it went down to 918.  Rajasthan is also lagging behind to improve the gender ratio. In comparison, there are 100 girls on every 113 boys. Mizoram is the state which is in a better state, here the ratio is 100: 101.1 .
